Creating a playful, social and recreational environment to empower minority groups.

This project entails the reuse of the Manchester Abattoir, where it aims to integrate arriving refugees with the existing minority communities of East Manchester; by welcoming and supporting their integration through employment opportunities, wellbeing services, recreational centres, and cultural exchanges.

Creating a social and recreational environment that can spread awareness while users experience the site. Moreover, the aim is to create a multicultural atmosphere, empowering both minorities and refugees, through the celebration of different people, languages, skills, religions and so on. Through this celebration it can encourage more diversity in the area and help with further integration.

Finally, as many of these cultures stem around respect, tolerance and sharing. Sharing of goods and skills within the proposal will encourage a de-growth agenda, going against consumerism and capitalism.
